SHIFT: Fulltime; Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
The mission of Gulf Bend Center (GBC) is to improve the quality of life in our community for individuals and their families by providing excellent and trusted care for wellness. GBC is committed to providing quality person-centered, trauma-informed care to individuals experiencing serious mental illness, developmental disabilities, and co-occurring disorders. GBC programs focus on the issues that matter most in the lives of the children, families, and adults we serve.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED: General
JOB PURPOSE:
The Community Resource Center (CRC) Navigator will serve as a liaison who works directly with individuals to connect them with community resources and participates in developing community support systems and networks. Responsible for connecting to and collaborating with community partners, federal and state agency services, and other local nonprofits to incorporate their services into the CRC. This position will participate in local advisory committees, implement an intake process to include regular data collection and analysis, and organize and facilitate (as needed) community conversations, Community Health Worker (CHW) meetings, focus groups, strategy sessions, and presentations. They will also be responsible for maintaining a community resource manual.

Trauma-informed: A trauma-informed approach to care "realizes the widespread impact of trauma and understands potential paths for recovery; recognizes the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, staff, and others involved in the system; and responds by fully integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices, and seeks to actively resist re-traumatization." The six fundamental principles of a trauma-informed approach include safety, trustworthiness, and transparency; peer support; collaboration and mutuality; empowerment, voice, and choice; and cultural, historical and gender issues.

General Competencies:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Required: Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred: Certification as Community Health Worker through the Texas Department of State Health Services and two (2) years' work experience with underserved populations.
