HR Generalist

POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Generalist

WORKSITE LOCATION: Gulf Bend Regional Plaza, 6502 Nursery Drive, Suite 100, Victoria TX 77904

SHIFT: Fulltime; Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, occasional early or late hours, some weekends

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A bachelor's degree in human resource management, business, healthcare management, or related discipline and a minimum of three years' progressively responsible human resources experience. Preferred: BA/BS in related field and five years' progressively responsible human resources experience.

JOB PURPOSE: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with HR management in supporting HR functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

  1. Monitors all phases of the employment process and all personnel transactions for the employee lifecycle.
  2. Administers recruitment process (primary contact for recruitment, liaison between applicants and hiring managers, coordinating with hiring authorities on staffing needs, maintaining the applicant tracking system, timely posting of open positions, creation of recruitment advertisements, timely review of applications, pre-screening applicants, scheduling and attending interviews, background and reference checks of applicants, attending career fairs, planning and/or attending recruitment events, maintaining contacts with college and high school career development centers).
  3. Maintains HRIS system (position control, FMLA, job descriptions, performance appraisals, and applicant tracking; leave accruals and benefits as requested).
  4. Maintains and monitors all professional licenses.
  5. Maintains credentialing of contractors and practicums.
  6. Maintains center-wide job descriptions and performance evaluations.
  7. Monitors and maintains unemployment claims.
  8. Assists with stay and exit interviews as requested.
  9. Conducts research and maintains data and statistical reports to support recruiting processes.
  10. Assist with salary, benefit, turnover, or any other surveys as requested.
  11. Provides daily coaching for directors, managers, supervisors, and employees.
  12. Participates in employee retention activities.
  13. Back-up to HR Coordinator (onboarding and benefits).
  14. Assist in audits as needed.
  15. Assist Director of Human Resources with short-term and long-range goals of development of HR policy and procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations and making suggested improvements.
  16. Performs other related duties or completes special projects as required or assigned by Director of Human Resources.
  17. Uses the trauma informed approach when providing services and working with others:

  20. Understands the six key principles of trauma-informed care.

  1. Comprehensive understanding of all HR areas including employment laws, compensation, benefits, workers compensation, training, and employee relations.
  2. Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong organizational skills, and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  3. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a confidential environment.
  4. Must be proficient on PC including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  5. Must have strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  6. Must be self-motivated and disciplined in following procedures.
  7. Ability to maintain a strict standard of confidentiality in handling sensitive information, reports, and correspondence.
  8. Demonstrates appropriate responsiveness to internal/external customer needs.

Trauma-informed:

A trauma-informed approach to care "realizes the widespread impact of trauma and understands potential paths for recovery; recognizes the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, staff, and others involved in the system; and responds by fully integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices, and seeks to actively resist re-traumatization." The six key principles of a trauma-informed approach include: safety; trustworthiness and transparency; peer support; collaboration and mutuality; empowerment, voice and choice; and cultural, historical and gender issues (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [2014]).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS:

  1. Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. Liability insurance required.
  2. Must be insurable by Center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
  3. Good driving record as defined by Gulf Bend Center.
  4. Must complete all CORE training requirements prior to the due date.
  5. Must have computer experience to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom. Must have good organizational skills to achieve multiple deadlines. Ability to type 40 wpm.
  6. Must maintain regular attendance and reliability which is critical to business operations. This is a fulltime position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm or agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of program's processes. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
