JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician

WORKSITE LOCATION: GBC Regional Plaza, 6502 Nursery Drive, Suite 100, Victoria TX 77904

STARTING PAY: $14.26/HR EEOC CODE: Technician FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SHIFT: Fulltime; Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, some on-call shifts evenings or weekends

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred: Two (2) years of general maintenance and repair experience; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Technician ensures facility, equipment, and fleet functionality through routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and timely repairs of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, aiming to minimize downtime and maintain safety/operational standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

  1. Manage maintenance schedule for automobile fleet and ensure maintenance, including oil changes, car washes, etc., are performed timely.
  2. Review the fleet inspection pre/post checklist on a daily basis and inspect any reported issues.
  3. Assist in maintaining buildings, grounds and equipment at all locations of the organization and report projects requiring a higher skilled craftsperson to supervisor.
  4. Perform basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, sheetrock and painting tasks and repairs as requested by supervisor within a reasonable amount of time.
  5. Help with removal or replacement of worn bedding or furniture at the Wellness Community and perform minor repairs such as troubleshooting and adjustment of locks on cabinets, doors and desks.
  6. Perform monthly check for damage and cleaning of Air Conditioning PTAC unit's filters and repairs needed.
  7. Weekly inspection of Gulf Bend Regional Plaza for minor repairs needed such as toilet issues, water leaks, continuous flow, cracked toilet seats, burned out light bulbs, door closures, doorknobs, slamming doors, etc.
  8. Report progress on general work assignments to supervisor and coordinate assigned projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and COMPETENCY:

  1. Program specific: Must be a self-starter, motivated, and dependable. Ability to listen and follow directions. Ability to solve problems and provide solutions. Must be organized and able to follow schedules for assigned projects. Ability to use various power and hand tools. Basic knowledge of building and equipment maintenance and repair techniques. Basic knowledge to keep an automobile safely operating, (i.e., tires, fluid levels, wiper blades, etc.). Ability to use e-mail and other software used for tracking purposes. Ability to travel within our catchment area and occasional out of town travel. Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks associated with the work.
  2. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with strong organizational skills and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization. (#2 through #10 will be the same on all JD's.)

Ability to plan and schedule work and implement directives without constant supervision. Must have good organizational skills to achieve multiple deadlines.

  6.   7.   10. Fleet: Completes fleet checklist as required. Reports all fleet problems directly to the Program Director within 24 hours of identifying problem. Uses GeoTab key fob in fleet vehicles and maintains road safety compliance.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS

  1. Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. Liability insurance required.
  2. Must be insurable by Center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Safe driving record as defined by Gulf Bend Center.
  3. Must have computer experience to include Microsoft Word, Excel (beginner to intermediate level), Outlook, Teams, and Zoom. Ability to type 40 wpm. Ability to operate office equipment (copy machine, fax).
  4. Must complete all training requirements prior to the due date. Attend required training and team (mgrs.: consortia) meetings. Relias training and any other training required for the role per Center policy.
  5. Must maintain regular and reliable attendance, including compliance with the telework agreement. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm or agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of the program's processes. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
