POSITION TITLE: Psychiatrist

DEPARTMENT: Outpatient Clinic REPORTING UNIT: PSYM 46 Psychiatric Medical

WORKSITE LOCATION: Gulf Bend Regional Plaza, 6502 Nursery Drive, Suite 100, Victoria TX 77904

SHIFT: Fulltime; Monday thru Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, some on-call shifts evenings or weekends

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited college of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor and residency in the psychiatry field.

DEGREE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (IF APPLICABLE):

  1. Degreed as a Medical Doctor and licensed in the State of Texas to practice medicine with a specialty in psychiatry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:
1. Determines and prescribes psychiatric and medical treatment and prescribes changes in treatment as needed.
2. Directs and participates in assessing psychiatric problems, care, and treatment; reviews assessments to determine adherence to guidelines and regulations.
3. Advises staff on unusual or difficult psychiatric problems, new and investigatory psychiatric medications, and treatment techniques.
4. Provide treatment that meets payer expectations.
5. Participate in team and committee meetings.
6. Delivers psychiatric care services to consumers to meet consumer and program needs.
7. Ensure all services delivered adhere to applicable standards and regulations, including the Center's compliance program.
8. Exhibits cooperative teamwork with coworkers and directs reports to accomplish the efficient operation of the unit by assisting coworkers as needed.
9. Facilitates or participates in routine trainings as scheduled/required.
10. Monitors release of information and insures no violation of Center’s privacy or confidentiality policies.
11. Establishes and maintains sound relationships with relevant stakeholders and community partners.
12. Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.
13. Complies with telework/remote agreement.
14. Uses the trauma informed care approach when providing services and working with others.

• Understands the Four R’s of trauma-informed care.
• Understands the six key principles of trauma-informed care.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited college of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor and residency in the psychiatry field.

Preferred: Knowledge of psychiatric principles and methods, methods and procedures in general medicine, and principles and practices in the development, implementation, and documentation of individualized care and treatment plans. Skill in the care and treatment of patients in the use of medical and psychiatric diagnostic and treatment tools and equipment, and in conducting psychiatric research.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS (specify):

  1. Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. Liability insurance required.
  2. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
  3. Good driving record as defined by Gulf Bend Center.
  4. Must complete all CORE training requirements prior to the due date.
  5. Must have computer experience to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must have good organizational skills to achieve multiple deadlines. Ability to type 40 wpm.
  6. Must maintain regular attendance and reliability which is critical to business operations. This is a fulltime position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm or agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of program’s processes. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
