Location: Victoria, TX and the surrounding seven (7) county area
Department: Mental Health Child Services, 12
Responsibilities: Provides peer mentoring and support to the parent/primary caregivers of children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance. Introduces the family to the treatment process. Models self-advocacy skills. Provides information, referral, and non-clinical skills training. Assists in identifying natural/nontraditional and community support systems. Works as an active team member of the intensive case management/wrap around team process. Services are provided in the community and/or clinic. Meets multiple deadlines and reporting requirements. Serves as a liaison for the family with staff, schools, and the community. Requires travel within the 7 counties.
Work Experience, Knowledge and Abilities Required: Must be a parent or legal guardian of a child/adolescent with a serious emotional disturbance. Must have at least one year experience navigating community service systems for children and adolescents. Requires ability to work closely as a team member with other professionals and families in planning and providing services. Strong decision making skills and sound judgment is necessary. Must have good written and oral communication skills. Basic computer skills are required. Must have good organizational skills to achieve multiple deadlines.
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
License, Registration and/or Certification Required: Valid Texas Driver's License and safe driving record as defined by Gulf Bend Center. Maintains Texas minimum personal auto-liability insurance coverage.
